Carrier Furnace Blinking Red Light Troubleshooting

No matter which kind of furnace you buy, it is likely that you will have problems with it at some point or another.
If you have a Carrier furnace, you have the advantage of having a built in diagnostic program within your furnace to help you to figure out what the problem is. The Carrier furnace blinking red light can show you what is wrong with your furnace, so that you can decide what to do about it.
The first thing that you need to do is to determine which code your red blinking light is giving you. When there is a problem with your furnace, the red light on the bottom front will blink in a code to help you to learn what is wrong.
Watch the light and determine how many times it is blinking and if the blinks are long or short. For instance, one code might be that your light is blinking 3 short blinks and one long blink. In another case, you might see that your light is blinking 2 short blinks and 2 long ones.
Once you have figured out what code the light is blinking, you will need to determine what it means. Some furnaces come with the codes typed on a sheet of paper and mounted to the front of your furnace. If you have one of these, then you are a lucky owner.
It will be very easy to determine what your code means. If your furnace has no code sheet on the front, you will have to locate your Carrier furnace user manual, either at your home or online, and check out the section on diagnostic codes. You should be able to determine what your blinking light code means.
Beware that just because your furnace is blinking a code, does not mean that it will be easy to fix. Some codes will simply tell you that you need to call a technician for further assistance. Other codes, however, will tell you about specific problems that you might be able to fix on your own without calling a repair person.
