Common Amana Furnace Problems

From time to time all of us have experienced an issue with our air conditioner or furnace. It just goes along with life. Amana has had some problems but not as many as other major HVAC vendors. Amana has been around since 1934 and is an industry leader. Still manufacturing superior products in heat pump and air conditioning systems. What are common Amana Furnace problems?

As owners, there goes responsibility to properly maintain the equipment. Care and maintenance will lend itself to longevity and eliminate major problems. The most common problem is the blower is emitting is not pushing out hot air. Other technicians reports repair calls are from owners who report the performance of the furnace has diminished.

If your Amana furnace problem is not putting out warm air, you should first check the thermostat. Check it is at the correct setting. It is easy to have it on cool instead of warm, especially if those eyes are going! Most thermostats are not 45 pt. to see and you have to get those glasses or magnifiers out. If not, you will call for the service technician, and he will find the setting incorrect and look at you like you are aging rapidly!

If the unit is not coming on at all, then it might be the sign that you have a power outage so check the circuit breakers. (If you don’t know where they are, give up, suck it up and call for help from a family member who will be able to take kindly to your lack of intelligence). After the circuit breaker check (making sure it is on the ON position), look at the wiring. It is common for a rodent or squirrel to chew a wire. If the wiring looks ok, unplug both the inside and outside units to reset them. If nothing happens, call a service technician.

Output of the furnace could be as simple as changing the filter. You would be surprised as how many people think that filter is changing color with age and not because of soot and dirt. You can buy a filter that needs to be vacuumed or ones that need to be changed monthly. Keeping the filter clean will also keep your power bill down or else the unit is working harder to push through the system.

Your Amana furnace problems will be minimized if you do service, and care for the unit. Make your investment last and help it work to optimum. If not, you may as well send a blank check to your power company!
